Middlesex County boys soccer recaps for Sept. 28: Edison Academy among winners

Abhay Bhaskar made four saves as Edson Academy shut out Somerset Magnet, 3-0, in Edison.

Vedant Badoni, Misha Patel, and Julian Counterman all scored in the win for Edison Academy, which improved to 4-5, Arnuv Batra and Yuraj Lakhotia each an assist, too.

Steven LaRosa made 11 saves in the loss for Somerset Magnet, which also is now 4-5 on the year.

College Achieve Central Charter 4, Dayton 2

Jeffrey Arias scored twice to lift College Achieve Central Charter over Dayton, 6-2, in Springfield.

Elmer Chiquillo and John Morales also scored for Charter (5-0) which remains unbeaten on the year. Chiquillo assisted on two goals as well while Jairo Correa made six saves.

Alex Fernandez netted two goals to lead Dayton (6-3).

Charter led 2-1 at halftime.

Middlesex 7, East Brunswick Magnet 1

Michael Mera scored twice and added an assist in Middlesex’s 7-1 victory over East Brunswick Magnet in East Brunswick.

Gabriel Tacco, Jermy Madrigal, and Eduardo Feijoo all scored and had assists as well while Enzo Ramirez and Andres Tobar both netted goals, too. Between the pipes, Joseph Caruso made six saves and Kevin Rand had three in the victory.

Justin Krall scored off an assist from Justin Noon for EB Magnet (3-6). Middlesex improved to 8-2 with the win. The Blue Jays led 4-0 at halftime.

South Plainfield 1, Spotswood 1

Rohan Castillo scored for South Plainfield and Kieran Barlow scored for Spotswood as the two teams played to a 1-1 tie in Spotswood.

Joe Garcia provided the assist on Castillo’s goal for the Tigers while Maks Mroz had the assist on Barlow’s goal for the Chargers.

Both scores came in the first half.

Robert Barrios also made four saves for South Plainfield, which is now 6-2-2 on the year. Aiden Scher recorded six stops for 5-3-1 Spotswood.

Piscataway Magnet 6, Perth Amboy Magnet 0

Erick Ramos scored twice and added an assist to lead Piscataway Magnet to a 6-0 win over Perth Amboy Magnet in Perth Amboy.

Piscataway Magnet 6, Perth Ahmboy Magnet 0t Ratainda, and John Gallego all scored as well for the visitors. Esquivel also had two assists and John Peter Martinez Chacon made just one save for the shutout, his first.

Piscataway Magnet (7-2) outshot Perth Amboy Magnet (0-8) in the game, 13-1, and all six goals came in the first half.

Highland Park 3, Calvary Christian 1

Luis Lopez scored a goal and recorded an assist in Highland Park’s 3-1 win over Calvary Christian in Highland Park.

Tymur Ovsiannikov and Josh Montero-Reyes both scored as well for the Owls with Ian Pellicane and Sam Ruggiero each having an assist.

The game was tied 1-1 at halftime s Timothy Cranga scored off an assist from Caleb Bugge for Calvary (2-5).

Highland Park is now 5-3 after the victory.

South River 4, North Plainfield 1

Selvin Fugon netted a pair of goals to power South River past North Plainfield, 4-1, in South River.

Tiago Capela and Brandon Chaves each scored as well for the Rams, who peppered 23 shots. Carlos Bello Gonzalez also had three assists while Anthony Costa made three saves in the win.

All four goals came after halftime.

For North Plainfield (1-8), Mateo Rodriguez gave the Canucks a 1-0 lead with a goal in the first half.

South River improved to 1-8 with the win.
